Hornet Nest

Another nest showed up yesterday on the branch of my coffee plant, hornets do make nest here and there once a while. They sting and not deadly, just a little bump but don’t risk it by poking the nest. Usually I start a small fire to drive them away before removing the nest, by placing it further away or that little jungle nearby. You cant stop them by no point  killing them either, they are just part of the ecosystem I guess. It’s nice to watch them go about building and tendering their nest actually.

Cocoon

Its really amazing just by studying all these cocoon and how this little pod transform these creature from one form to another while leaving behind such beautiful shell. These cocoon can be found all over my garden and they don’t seem to decompose or break down, some i had been keeping for years.

Discovered a small mud hive which house this pretty big wasp and managed to film it devouring a caterpillar its size. There are lots of bees at my garden but this huge wasp is the first and it has this striking yellow colour on it which is easy to spot and track.

Earthworm

These creature are only loved and cared for by gardeners or maybe if you are a fish, a scrumptious meal. They show sign of a healthy garden if any corner you dig and you find a bunch of them creepily crawling and trying to escape from the sunlight. They are usually hiding under potted plants during a very hot day and inside your compost bin happily feeding off whatever organic stuff you throw in.

Frogs

Some say a healthy garden is one with plenty of little animal or insect or living creatures. My garden has lots of frogs, you can find them at every corner and my pond is their breeding ground. Natural pest control, hope they eat all those pesky mosquitoes.

Caterpillar

Once a while you get some caterpillar eating your plants, i don’t kill it, will move it to some nearby unwanted plants so they can feast on it and complete their life cycle. Maybe some birds will feast on it first before they turn into cocoon.

If you find such droppings, start searching your beloved plants for caterpillars before they wipe out a whole section of your plants.

These caterpillar are very beautiful and unique, simply part of the natures way of life, share some of your crops with them for they will become a beautiful butterfly to pollinate your plants tomorrow.

I found a cluster of white eggs while clearing my pumpkin patch in the ground which looks like lizard eggs but rather soft. I was wondering could they be snakes !! Kept them in a container and after 1 week, these baby iguana came out looking like their parents.
